Yes, signing contracts using electronic signatures is just as legally binding and much more secure. It's also faster, of course. In reality, you rarely receive a contract on paper anymore. Just as companies and lawyers negotiate externally using phones and emails, contracts are printed, signed with a pen, scanned and emailed, and then a lawyer merges the various scans at the end of a PDF file containing the contract. This cumbersome practice has lasted for many years, although it's wrong on so many levels. The eIDAS Regulation establishes a framework for electronic signatures throughout Europe.
